ONE ROOM CHALLENGE | Week 3

Sound the alarm!!! WEEK #3 is a wrap and we are well on our way past the midpoint of this 6 Week #OneRoomChallenge.  This week was ridden with delays, stress and everything else that could have went array.

For starters, I had cabinetry installation scheduled for Saturday, 10/12/19.  My contractor planned to pick up the cabinetry from our wholesale vendor early that morning and arrive for assembly/installation by 9am.  Well....my cabinetry vendor called the day before to say the cabinets won't arrive until Monday, 12/14th.  Yikes!!! You see, my contractor is scheduled to leave for vacation just days later, on Thursday, 10/24th and the timeline is way tight.

As luck would have it, the cabinets didn't arrive until VERY LATE that Monday and my entire project schedule imploded...I mean, everything was thrown off...countertop installation, backsplash installation, my upcoming travel plans and more.

This is where I paid much gratitude to my many years of experience in this industry because once I got that initial call on Friday that my cabinets were delayed, I immediately started calling every other contractor and cabinet installer I knew to schedule back-up! #neverscared LOL

INCOMING: NEW CONTRACTOR

So, after all was said and done, I had to wish my ace, Thomas, a wonderful vacation and hire a new contractor {Hey, Wayne!}.  In a matter of 48 hours, I spoke to about a dozen potentials and Wayne worked out price and schedule with me.  He's also a master with customizing cabinets and I had a lot of adjustments to be made.  Wayne started assembly/installation Tuesday, 10/15th and I felt really good UNTIL....

ANOTHER DELAY? REALLY!!!

My new stackable washer/dryer was scheduled to be delivered Tuesday, the same day Wayne started with the cabinets.  We were waiting all day and the truck finally arrived at 5:45pm.

I can't tell you how excited I was because my old washer/dryer left the premises 2 days prior and with 2 teenage boys and my hubby, the dirty laundry was piling up WAY TOO FAST!

As the world turns, the delivery men unwrapped the washer/dryer and instantly told us they were damaged and couldn't be installed. Yooooo, WT@!!!! Yep, they put these beauties right back on the truck AND LEFT.

What did this do to my schedule, you may ask?  Delays upon more delays!  This has officially halted my progress as the side panel, countertop, backsplash, floating shelf and more await the pending arrival of the new W/D.

Stay tuned folks because as of today, 10/17th, I still don't have a new date for delivery.  #HomeDepot told me to call back tomorrow.  #stressed

Stay tuned to see it this challenge really makes it to the finish line.  And...

p.s. If this is my first challenge update you're catching, here's Week #1 and Week #2.
