Modern Elegance & Warmth in a Super-sized Family Room

We are busy with designs upon designs and overdue in updating our blog to reflect some of the exciting work that's taking place in our studio these past few months. This super-sized family room (and dining room) is a continuation of a full house customization we are in the midst of with this recently completed new 4500 square foot home. We've been experiencing painful delays due to contractors (which requires its own dedicated blog post to vent) but such is the nature of this industry in South Florida and this too shall pass ;-)

 You've seen this all-black kitchen above in previous blog posts and we're moving on into the adjacent dining room. The goal for the homeowners was to add a softer relief to the kitchen but one that accommodates large gatherings without feeling too crowded. The extendable dining table can seat up to 12, we added a thin shaker paneling detail on the wall to complement the thin shaker kitchen cabinets, flanked with smaller yet bold wall sconces and a lovely sideboard cabinet. And, how about this show-stopper of a light fixture! It's linear freeform glass panels suspended on black steel posts...strong, industrial yet soft and fluid.

This is a 12 foot wide sectional with double chaise to seat 2 comfortably for our lovely clients to cozy-up well, every night actually. :) We also added 2 cognac leather lounge chairs & ottomans on each end which reinforces the vibe of the space as a comfy, cozy yet modern chic space.

The custom built banquet seating will have drawer storage beneath to store family game night activities and features built-in drink end tables. We're still contemplating the textiles for the bench seating and swivel arm chairs that allow easy conversation with both sides of the room. The oversized floor-to-ceiling gallery wall bordered with linear wall sconces will anchor the chill space while this 15 foot wide custom media wall - with built in fire place and backlit stone suspended off the wall - anchors the NFL Sunday / Movie Night / Gaming Tournament space {smile}.

 There are loads of custom built millwork and special order furnishings in these spaces. Stay tuned as we do not expect install to be until Q3 of this year!
